Boarding
Guardianship
It is a requirement that parents of children under the age of 18 appoint a guardian for their son/daughter.
If a boarder’s parents are not in the UK whilst their son/daughter is at school, they must either:
- Appoint a guardian of their choosing in the UK. This person should make all arrangements for half terms and school holidays and notify school in writing of these arrangements at least one week prior to the relevant break. Any payment involved in such arrangements would be strictly a private matter between the parents, the guardian and any persons they use for home-stay. School would need to be informed in advance of the name, address and contact telephone number of such a guardian.
Or
- Use a recognised (e.g. Aegis registered www.aegisuk.net/) guardianship agency. The name of the guardianship agency that has been chosen should be notified to the school in advance of the first term it is to be used and any change should be notified thereafter.
For boys/girls joining the school who have no close relatives in the UK we strongly recommend the guardianship company route.
Our students currently use the following guardianship companies: -
- Whitehouse Guardians - www.whg.eu.com
- Study Links International - www.studylinks.co.uk/
- Heritage Education Services
