Science
Years 3,4,5 and 6 have two sessions per week and are fortunate to have the use of a laboratory if available. The syllabus is based on the National Curriculum, with a heavy emphasis placed on practical work, backed up with written theory.
Topics are taught in blocks and over the year all three disciplines are visited. The main skills developed include:- observation, the making and testing of hypothesis, the design of fair and controlled investigations, the drawing of meaningful conclusions through reasoning and evaluations of various forms of evidence.Where possible visiting speakers and educational trips are arranged to enhance work covered in lessons.
