Proud Past - Finer Future

Polam Hall School was founded in 1847 and moved to its present site in 1854. It was a group of enlightened and distinguished Quaker families who formed the school and we are indebted to their foresight.

Several members of today's Governing Body are in direct line of descent from those founding families. Our school assemblies are still called Readings and we remember our Quaker roots at regular intervals in our school worship.

Our Old Scholars Association (PHOSA) preserves many interesting and valued archives, often on display in the school, which reflect the school's fascinating past.

For over 150 years Polam Hall School has made a significant contribution to Darlington's proud history.

During the month of December 2004, The Northern Echo ran two features on Polam Hall School as part of its Echo Memories.
