Sixth Form

Polam Hall Sixth Form in Darlington provides excellent independent education for boys and girls offering A levels in a wide range of subjects.

The students go on to universities of their choice including Oxford and Cambridge.

Boys and girls join the Sixth Form from Darlington, Durham, Barnard Castle, Richmond, Northallerton, Middlesbrough, Yarm and the Tees Valley in the North East of England as well as from overseas.

Sixth Form students choose from a wide range of AS and A level subjects. Scholarships (for both internal and external candidates) are available at this level. Sports and Music scholarships are also offered.

Sixth Form students have their own study and common room facility with kitchens in Plantation House and they no longer have to wear uniform.

The majority take on additional responsibilities such as running the school Charity Committee, being House Captains and prefects.

The Sixth Form run a school council (made up of representatives from each year group). The council come together to discuss school life and put forward ideas.

A comprehensive careers programme gives students guidance in making University choices and preparing for interview and all have the benefit of a personal tutor, closely overseen by the Senior Management staff (which includes the Head of Sixth Form). Regular monitoring and target setting is given to each student to aid their progression through the A level specifications and the many challenges of Sixth Form life.
