Teaching and Learning

To enter the Senior School , students are required to sit an entrance examination. These examinations are taken towards the end of January each year for entry that September. The examinations also determine our scholarship winners.

The students follow a general syllabus in the first 3 years of senior school, making their GCSE choices in the second half of Year 9.

Staff are always keen to help with these choices and the school runs a Careers Morning with representatives from various professions and universities being available allowing parents and students to talk about the different careers with someone who really knows. A wide choice of subjects is offered at GCSE. At Polam Hall we are proud to not only offer single and dual award science but also the three separate sciences.

The students then follow their chosen GCSE courses for Years 10 and 11. The standard is high and public examination results excellent.
